The city of Durban lies on the warm east coast of South Africa, about 600km from Johannesburg. It is blessed with a warm sub-tropical climate with ocean temperatures dropping to all of 20 degrees Celsius in winter! It boasts long stretches of beaches, one of the largest Indian populations outside of the Indian subcontinent and beautiful scenery just inland. Johannesburg: the economic centre of South Africa, a sprawling metropolis, full of Johannesburg accommodation and a world of hidden gems. Given South Africa’s dearth of large, engaging cities, competition between Cape Town and Johannesburg has always been particularly fierce. Joburg, or Jozi as its affectionately known, often comes off second best in the tourism stakes when compared to Cape Town’s spectacular mountain, beaches and proximity to the Winelands. Clinking glasses, sweeping vineyards and complex flavours are but three of the sensory adventures waiting for you in the Cape Winelands, only to be experienced by those who make the effort to get there.

The Cape Winelands region is a large area in the Western Cape of South Africa which remains sans official boundaries. Instead, it is defined as the region of the province which produces the lion’s share of local wines. It incorporates a clutch of small, characterful towns, a wealth of heritage and a culinary scene unbeaten in South Africa.
